In Greene County district court Richard Allen Frye, 33, of Grand Junction was sentenced July 11 to five years in prison after changing his plea to guilty to a charge of child endangerment. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. The court also found Frye unable to pay $1,073.52 in restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. A charge of distributing counterfeit marijuana to a person under age was dismissed. In another case initiated against Frye last October on a charge of burglary-third degree, with disposition in February, a deferred judgment was revoked and Frye was sentenced to five years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years, concurrent with the child endangerment sentence. (Sentencing: Kester)
Donald T. Thorpe, 63, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. He was placed on informal probation for one year. He must pay a $1,250 civil penalty, but he may waive half the penalty if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must complete a community college drinking drivers course and follow any recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation already completed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Kester)
Brock Brent Stoner, 25, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty July 17 to a charge of OWI-first offense. A trial date was set for Sept. 30.
Cases were initiated in district court against Jared Dean Dennhardt, 25, of Jefferson on a charge of assault causing bodily injury, and against Robert Emmett Tracy III, 27, of Jefferson on a charge of driving while license barred.
